A small cache not far away from the statue of the famous dog and
WW2 Hero "Bamse".
The cache is a micro in a relatively busy area. It contains log,
pencil and eraser. FTF price to first finder. Please be careful
when retrieving and replacing the cache.
I placed this cache because there really ought to be more caches in
the town of Honningsvåg. A lot of tourists, amongst them many
geocachers, visit the town during the year, and it is a pity that
there are so few caches in an area with more than 250000 visits
each year.
BAMSE
Bamse was a St. Bernhard dog from Honningsvåg, that became famous
during the WW2 years in Montrose in Scotland. He was owned by
Captain Hafto of the Norwegian Navy, and went to sea with him on
the minesweeper Thorodd during the war.
The statue of Bamse was placed in Honningsvåg the 19th of June
2009. It is a copy of the statue in Montrose.
