Geocache Description:

The starting point for this cache is in Fredericktown - Washington County. In order to get the final coords for the cache, you will need numbers found on both sides of the river. The easiest way is to take a ride on "Fred" to the Fayette County side to complete the coords and find the cache.

The Fredericktown Ferry, nicknamed Fred, is the last ferry to run across the Monongahela River and one of only two full-time ferries in Pennsylvania. The ferry is a steel-hulled, cable-driven ferry. Fred is located in Fredericktown and has been in operation since 1948.

According to one of the ferry pilots, "Fred" was owned by three families until the county bought him in the 1970's. The operation of the ferry is subsidized by both Fayette and Washington counties.

Don't miss the opportunity to take a ride on a piece of history. A bridge is being built that will carry the Mon-Fayette Expressway across the river just north of Fredericktown. The new bridge and roadway could cut down the receipts and endanger the continued running of this old ferry.

The Puzzle Coords:
North 40 - 0A.2E2
West 079 - DF.G6C

A = The third number on the bridge height sign on the Fredericktown side.

The remaining numbers are located on the Fayette County side on a GE Electric meter on a pole located at the top of the red painted handrail. The numbers are at the bottom of the dial and are the following sequence:
96 BCD 453

E = B-2
F = B+D
G = C+D
