This cache is set to mark the top of one of Swansea's landmarks. Hope you aren’t too out of breath if you attempt this the hard way from the bottom of the hill! Maybe you will take the easy way out and drive? From this point you have a view of Swansea Bay with County Hall and The Tower at Meridian Quay, Wales' tallest building, at 350 feet, dominating the landscape.
Constitution Hill is part of Swansea's Victorian Heritage and one of the few cobbled streets left in Swansea to be returned to its former glory. Works were undertaken to minimise traffic flow and maintain the street's Victorian heritage. Works included the removal and replacement of the cobbled road surface using recycled materials. Period lighting and furniture were included in the scheme.
The new surface is very smooth compared to the old bumpy cobbles. The refurbishment appears to have eliminated some of the characteristic humps which I remember dislodging milk crates from the milk floats as they navigated their way up (could always tell when we had a new milkman!).
Constitution Hill was a gruelling and exciting uphill stage near the culmination of the 'Round Britain Cycling Tour' on a number of occasions (this was prior to refurbishment!).
The cache container is accessible by a wheelchair user.
On street parking spaces are available at the top and the bottom of the hill – Hanover Street at the bottom and Terrace Road at the top.
The Cache container is a magnetic key safe so please provide your own writing implement.
