Nysted is
one of my favorite cities within Denmark. The history of the city
can be recorded back to the Middle Age around the 14th- century,
where it grew up around, what today is known as Aalholm
Castle.
For
centuries the small city lived by the trade between Denmark and the
north of Germany. This
changed with the industrial revolution and the possibility of rail
transportation.
Visiting
the city and it surroundings you step into a historical part of
Denmark. Beside the Castle which early parts is from the 14
century, a walk around the city you will experience the cozy
housing dating from the 18- and 19 century.
In the
near surroundings you may find some beautiful manors and churches
as well.
