Schaerbeek - Parc Josaphat - Tir à l'arc

FR: Le parc devrait son nom à un pèlerin qui, de retour de Palestine en 1574, aurait été frappé par la similitude entre la vallée de Josaphat, en Terre sainte, et celle du Roodebeek. De nos jours, il faut plutôt parler des parcs Josaphat, les vingt hectares étant coupés par des rues et par une ligne de chemin de fer. Au nord, entre le boulevard Lambermond et les avenues Louis-Bertrand et du Suffrage-Universel, on trouve les plaines de jeux et de sports : terrains de football, courts de tennis, pistes d'athlétisme et de pétanque pour la plupart réservés aux clubs ou aux écoles. Plus au sud, on trouve la grande pelouse du tir à l'arc, accessible au public. Au centre, une vaste promenade publique à l'anglaise, vallonnée et pittoresque.

The park owes its name to a pilgrim who returned from Palestine in 1574, was struck by the similarity between the valley of Jehoshaphat, the Holy Land, and one of Roodebeek. Nowadays, one should speak of Jehoshaphat parks, twenty acres being cut off by roads and by a line of railway. North, between the boulevard and avenues Lambermond Louis-Bertrand Universal Suffrage, and can find playgrounds and sports: football, tennis courts, athletics tracks and bowls for the most part restricted to clubs or schools.
Farther south is the great lawn of archery, accessible to the public. In center, a wide public promenade in English, hilly and picturesque. (source: OPT)
