Geocache Description:

You are looking for a camouflaged micro container.

This geocache is located at one of the many interesting Georgia historical sites - the Travelers Rest Historic Site.

Travelers Rest Historical Site

This property was a stagecoach inn and plantation home that was built around 1815 by James R. Wyly. He operated it until 1833 when it was sold to Devereaux Jarrett, who expanded it and made it his home, as well as the home to the next three generations of Jarrett’s, until it was finally sold to the State of Georgia for $8,000 in 1955. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964.

One of the early comments about this Inn:
"Here I got an excellent breakfast of coffee, ham, chicken, good bread, butter, honey, and plenty of good new milk for a quarter of a dollar . . . What a charming country this would be to travel in, if one was sure of meeting with such nice clean quarters once a-day!" -- English Geologist George W. Featherstonhaugh, 1837

You can tour the house and see many original artifacts and furnishings at the following times:
1st and 3rd Saturday each month / 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and
3rd Friday each month / 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Visit the Travelers Rest website for more details.

Many thanks to the manager of Tugaloo State Park and this historical site for allowing this Geocache to be placed here.
