Geocache Description:

A series of caches which will take you on a walking tour around the picturesque village of Biddestone lasting around 2 hours. The route is designed to allow for a visit to either of the two village pubs before, during or after the series.

The caches are all shapes and sizes. Each cache contains a clue which leads to a final seventh bonus cache.

Watch out for black and tabby cats along your route. You never know who might be on the prowl in Biddestone!

Recommended parking for the series is at N 51° 27.635 W 002° 11.868 near the village pond, famous for its duck population. You can usually see a few well fed ducks here.

In the springtime the ducks wander about the village green and sometimes nestle down on the side of the road, not at all bothered by the passing traffic. Please take care driving through the village - in case the ducks are going walk about.

Alternative parking can usually be found at N 51° 27.629 W 002° 12.010.

The route for the whole series is suitable for families with children but can be a bit muddy in places and involves a few stiles so not really suitable for buggies/pushcairs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first cache in the series will take you on a short loop to find a micro sized cache with the first clue. Should take about 20 minutes from start to finish.

Situated at the posted coordinates is a sign - just what you'd expect to see on the village green! What is the first word on the sign? Let the number of letters in that word = A.

Now proceed to:

N51° 27.A3(A+3) W 2° (Ax2).01(A-4)

Look up to the top - how many crosses are on the roof? Let the answer = B

Now proceed to the structure at:

N 51° 27.(A-1)(A/2)(A-B) W 2° 12.B(A-B)(A-6)

Take note of the cautionary sign inside the roof of the structure! How many names are shown at the bottom of the sign? Let the answer = C.

You should now be able to find the cache nearby at:

N 51° 27.(A-1)CB W 2° 12.B(A-B)(C-B)

The clue is written inside the cache = D. This is for the Bonus Cache.

The wide open grassy area alongside the road was believed to have been used for archery practice in the 16th century during the reign of King Henry VIII. A statute required compulsory archery practice for all males over the age of 7 years.

We recommend you head back via the footpath sign marked at N 51° 27.572 W 002° 12.138. At this point take the curious narrow public footpath in between the two thatched roof cottages and follow it to the end where it meets the road. At the end of the footpath turn right and head back towards the village centre using the road.

If you are heading for cache No.2 in the series you will need to take the footpath signed on your left hand side as you approach the church.....
