LLKD-95 Bald
Rocks Shelter
Just off the Ramapo
Dunderberg Trail, the Bald Rock Shelter (N41° 14.559 W074° 07.932) is one of the
several stone and wood shelters that are found all over Harriman
State Park. This particular one was built in 1933. It is
approximately 1.5 miles from Route 106 to the vicinity of the
shelter and the cache. There are sweeping vistas, swampy
areas and just enough climbs to keep things interesting.
The cache is a
black plastic ammo box hidden under a rock, within a mountain
laurel protected area. The hide is about 200 feet from the
shelter, mostly downhill. Please rehide better than you
find.
