Ambling in Alice Wilson Woods Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Femmeng: Haven't been able to find a spot nearby suitable for hiding a cache this size, and since I am not a big fan of micros in a pine tree, I sadly will archive this cache and look for a new spot.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Alice Wilson Woods, a delightful piece of wilderness, in the middle of a suburban neighbourhood. Alice Wilson was a geologist and the first woman to be hired by the Geological Survey of Canada. She was also the first female Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Our family has enjoyed walks in these woods for many years, and we thought we would introduce others to this spot by placing a cache here. As a tribute to Alice, this is a spot in Kanata where you can clearly see the Canada Shield rising out of the ground. Take time to look around. In the spring the area is covered in Trilliums and Trout Lilies. The cache is easily accessible from a path off Leacock Dr. Parking is near the trailhead, on Leacock Dr. There is also a bus stop nearby. Please try to stay on the trail, and protect the lovely wildflowers that bloom here. The trail can also be accessed from The Parkway, but should only used if you walked or biked to the location. Ironically, there is no parking at any time on The Parkway. Room for small trades, which are currently kid friendly. Please replace the cache carefully, lots of muggles use the park.
