Den oficielle indstilling efter fejringen af 50 året for
berielsen, var at det var et passende tidspunkt at indstille
fejringe af befrielsen. Derfor tog Komiteen for mindehøjtidligheden
d. 4. Maj initiativ til at fortsætte traditionen med at fejre
frihedsbudskabet 4. Maj 1945 og fortsætte med at arrangere
mindecermonier for ofrene for krigen 1940-1945

allierede lande blev skudt ned over Danmark.

ENG:
The story of the Comittee begins in the spring of 1995, while I
was working as voluntary Information Officer for Home Guard
District East Funen. I was asked to arrange the memorial ceremony
for the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Denmark. One of the
tasks to be handled was to locate and register all existing burial
sites, graves and memorial stones for the victims of the German
occupation

During our work with caring for the traditions, we have
established close contacts with, among others, Royal Air Force
(RAF) XV Squadron, Lossiemouth, British Legion, Royal Observer
Corps and in 2001 also 388th Bomber Group Association. This also
includes close contacts with the respective embassies of England,
Canada and the USA. Our work has also resulted in the location of a
relative of one killed airman. Sergeant Ronald Maycock was reported
missing in the crash at Gals Klint, which is why he did not get a
grave stone in 1942. The work of the Comittee saw too it that his
presence in the aircraft during the time of the crash was accepted,
and Sergeant Maycock got his own grave stone in 1999. The British
Embassy tried to locate some relatives, but were unsuccessful. It
was not until the Committee tried to advertise using the Internet,
that a sister to Sergeant Maycock was located.
