While out searching for some new, interesting areas to place some caches for "Project RACECAR 2010" we stumbled across this cairn. Pulled up to see what it said. One dedication was to the first settlers who arrive to the Wascana District, May 24, 1882. The other plaque was for the pioneer families that came here in 1882 and for the May 24 picnics held at the "OLD CROSSING of Wascana Creek". I couldn't find out much more on this though. The plaque was dedicated by the Regina & District Old Timers Association, whose main object is collecting and preserving information of the history of our province. Without people like this, a lot of our history would be lost!
While we were here, a carload of young men came to go canoeing and toss some frisbees around. A very pretty area to come and think about the hardships the pioneers must have gone through!
Please place cache container back where we placed it, so it is not located by muggles! All good cachers carry a writing tool and with micros, tweezers are sometimes required.
