Geocache Description:

**Please note that Earth Caches require you answer questions, which are at the end of the page. Failure to send these answers within a week of logging the cache will result in deletion of your log.**

At the coordinates, you will be on top of what appears to be a rather steep, but small, hill. You are actually standing on a natural levee.

Natural levees form as part of the flooding process of a river. During the normal flow of a river, the water carries small pieces of sediment (sand, clay, etc). When the river is in a flooding stage, the water is moving much more quickly and is able to carry bigger pieces of sediment (small rocks and pebbles). As soon as the river spills over its banks, the water movement slows down quickly, and the water can’t hold onto the bigger sediment. The rocks and pebbles get dropped immediately, which would be right next to the typical river bed.

To log this earthcache:
1. You must email me the height of the levee (from the land side, not the water side).
2. Post a picture of yourself (or your GPS) with the river in the background. While this is not required, it's a pretty area. :)
