According to The Merriam - Webster Dictionary the word "abbreviation" means a shortened form of a word or phrase used for brevity especially in writing. Abbreviations are popular in many professions; whether medical, clerical, aviation, education, law enforcement, the military, etc. People in that profession know exactly what that abbreviation means.
This is the beginning of a series of abbreviations that can be found in this area of the state.
ASU, Arkansas State University - Heber Springs, has both traditional and non-traditional students, primarily from Cleburne County. Besides the main campus at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, classes are also held in the John L. Latimer Skill Training Center. This facility boasts one of the premiere welding labs in the state, hands-on painting and ceramic classes, and practical nursing classes. In addition to college classes, many short courses and seminars for workforce development and specialized training are held in this facility.
As always have fun, be safe, and enjoy each day to its fullest.
