The old, unused tracks for the Danville and Western rail line (commonly known as the "Dick & Willie" line, about which I will make no comment) through Martinsville are being converted to a hiking trail, which currently runs about 4.5 miles from end to end. The trail, at the moment, is a work in progress, and is slated to eventually connect with the Smith River Trail in Fieldale. You can access the trail from various parking areas; the waypoint provided is a good starting point for caches on the eastern leg of the trail.
Please be sure to re-hide the container just as you found it—and don't fall down the hill.
