Last week school students around the State were involved in the
'Have Sum Fun' mathematics competition. This is where teams from a
variety of schools pit their mathematical brains against each
other. We saw this sign whilst trying to find a place another cache
and it just had too many numbers on it to be ignored.
Use the information on the plaques to find A - H and then apply
some basic mathematics to find the final coordinates.
Mill Point commemorates one of the early windmills located at
Bunbury. The original mill owned by William Forrest was located
A00m from this point at a bearing of
23B degrees. William's C son,
John Forrest, was born on the 22nd of the Dth
month in 184E.
John Forrest was the Surveyor General for F
years and the First Premier for G years. He died
in 19H8.
Now you should have A - H.
I = F-1
The cache is located at South 33 1D.NPQ and East 115 40.RST
where
N = the square root of ((A + H) x B - H)
P = G - (E - B)
Q = D - B
R = I x G - F x A + H
S = A / C + H
T = C squared.
Checksum Use this equation to make sure you are
mathematically correct
I + N - P + Q + R - S + T = 16
The cache is not a nano and does not contain a writing stick, so
please bring your own.
You will need to pass through a security check point on the way
to the first waypoint location. We have spoken to the Security
Guard and they still allow access. The first section of land is
privately owned, however they can't stop access to the Cut. You
will be allowed through providing you promise not to be a hoon and
do burn outs on the roads!
