This is one of the oldedest cemeteries in the Town of Caledon.
The first person to be buried here was Welsh pioneer David Williams
in 1823. He was only 29 years old when a tree fell on him while he
was clearing his land. It's rumored that he was buried in the bark
of the tree.
The land was formally deeded much later in 1858. The property
was expanded in 1896 and 1908. The stone and iron gate entrance to
the cemetery was built in 1930. In 1966 the adjacent school
property was added to the cemetery and the single room school house
became the mortuary.
