Uppe på sandåsen norr om Hols kyrka ligger ett av länets största fornlämningsområden – Hols gärde längs med E20 mellan Alingsås och Vårgårda. Här återfinns en ansenlig mängd fornlämningar från bronsålder och fram till medeltid. Dessa visar att platsen varit en knutpunkt under förhistorien. Inte mindre än åtta stora gravhögar från bronsåldern finns inom fornlämningsområdet. En av dessa, Store hög, är 18 meter i diameter och två och en halv meter hög. Dessutom finns fem gravfält från järnåldern, en domarring, resta stenar, hålvägar och stora områden med spår efter medeltida jordbruk.

Up on the sandy ridge north of the Church of Hol is one of the county's largest prehistoric sites - Pastures of Hol along the E20 between Alingsås and Vårgårda. Here are a considerable amount of ancient monuments from the Bronze Age until the Middle Ages. These show that the place has been a focal point in prehistory. No fewer than eight large burial mounds from the Bronze Age are found in the ancient field. One of these, Store Hög, is 18 meters in diameter and two and a half meters high. In addition, five Iron Age burial grounds, a stone circle, standing stones and large areas with traces of medieval agriculture.
