Elfin Glen in Ramsey starts at the foot of Lhergy Frissell on the famous T.T. Course at the Hairpin Bend, and climbs very steeply up to the mountain road, to the West of Albert Tower. It covers about 14 acres and has one of the best panoramic views of Ramsey and the whole of the Northern plain to the Point of Ayre, and beyond to Scotland. It is well worth the short climb.
Access is by car or on foot from Ramsey.
History
t was originally known as Ballacowle Glen but was given its English name in the nineteenth century to attract holiday makers, possibly with tales and stories of the carryings on of the fairies and elves who once reigned amidst its solitude. The Forestry Board purchased it in 1963 along with a total of 47.25 acres from Lancelot (Lancy) Kneale for £3,625.
