This is one of a series of caches created for the purpose of introducing geocachers to the rich history, the extensive path network and the general scenic beauty of the Irvine Valley.
This cache is on a circuitous walk from Darvel that is known as 'The Five Mile'. It passes the road end to Lochfield Farm where Sir Alexander Fleming was born and the 'Old Loudoun Schoolhouse' (N55 38.405 W004 16.321) where Fleming received his initial basic education.
There is a cache (GC24WP7) at Lochfield Farm which is well worth a visit and another four caches on the circular route.

If driving, please take care as there are some steep climbs and drops with hairpin bends.
