in our disclaimer.
One of a series of caches created for the purpose of introducing geocachers to the rich history, the extensive path network and the general scenic beauty of the Irvine Valley.
This is a third time re-sited cache. The first one was muggled and disappeared and the second one was washed down the burn in a flood. Apologies to the owner of the 'Be Prepared' TB as it too has disappeared.
PLEASE NOTE THE NEW COORDINATES ARE AS FOLLOWS.
N55 38.178 W004 16.935 This is one of four caches that can be found on a circuitous walk from Darvel called 'The Five Miles'. The walk / drive passes the road end to Lochfield Farm where Sir Alexander Fleming was born and the 'Old Loudoun Moor Schoolhouse' (N55 38.405 W004 16.321) where he received his initial basic education. There is also a cache (GC24WP7) at Lochfield Farm which is well worth a visit.
The small strip of fenced off land to the west of the Mucks Burn bridge was at one time the permanent campsite of the Newmilns 16th Ayrshire Scout Troop.....that was back in the days before nintendos and ipods.
The burn is a tributary of the Glen Water.
If driving, please take care as there are some steep climbs and drops with hairpin bends.
There are several other caches to be found on or close to this circular route GC26593, GC24WP7, GC2659Q, GC2E4E0, GC23RKX and GC265AT
