A quick multi and worth the stop!
This is a 2 part treasure hunt. The coordinates listed will take you to a spot where you will find the coordinates for the cache itself. When you find the cache you will be standing on the former site of the Humboldt School. The building was erected in 1906 and it served until 1917 when an addition was added. In 1919, it's first class of 7 students graduated. In June of 1955 construction began on a new addition. It consisted of a modern gymnasium, 3 elementary classrooms, a shop, hot lunch kitchen, science room and administrative offices. The school struggled at times to fill teaching positions in the 1960's thru the 1980's. Class sizes continued their downward trend in the late 1980's. In December of 1990, the Humboldt St. Vincent School Board began the consolidation process with the Hallock School District. In 1991, the school's last year, there were 65 students in grades K-12. The school ranked as the states smallest. The sale of the school property was held in December, 1992. On July 13, 1991 there was an all school reunion where between 600-650 people and 18,000 mosquitos attended. Sadly, several years later the school building fell into ruin and was demolished. My Grandma taught at this school and was my 1st grade teacher. I graduated from this great little school in 1983. My class had 5 students...4 girls and 1 boy. I will never forget the fun times and good memories as a Humboldt Huskie! In the summer of 2007, Humboldt celebrated it's Centennial with a parade, picnic, all-class reunion and dance on the old school grounds. Teachers and students came from all over to reminisce and see old faces. A good time was had by all! We filled the initial contents of this cache with some fun stuff
for adults and kids and something nice for the FTF. Enjoy!
