Geocache Description:

Pubs are an important part of our heritage. Here is an opportunity to visit the best of them, sit in the garden, work out the clues and wander off in search of a cache a short stroll away.
Geocache guidelines: this cache series is not advocating any commercial transaction.

THIS CACHE WAS UPDATED ON THE 8TH SEPTEMBER 2014 - The pub has had to have some work done and the answer to one of the questions has been altered. We apologise for the delay in getting this cache up and running again but unfortunately the original CO has passed away and so once I noticed the inaccuracy I got in touch with the CO's partner and she has allowed me to adopt the cache and keep it up to date.

The coordinates are of the pub and not the cache.
You dont have to go inside the pub to answers any of the questions and you dont have to drink or eat anything if you are on a quick visit.
Photographs are very welcome, but please do not attach photos of the pub itself with the name in evidence or name the pub in your log...
The Real Ale Regular rules state that all the clues must be available even when the pub is closed
If the churches can have their Church Micros, let the pubs have their Real Ale Regulars...
****************************************************************************
We found number 2 in our series while visiting friends in Derbyshire. It has been serving ale for 400 years and, as with most old pubs, it has claims that both Dick Turpin and Colin Firth have downed pints in it.
Please note in the public bar a drawing of the pub by David which hangs over the fireplace. He has been coming here in his role of conscientious CAMRA member for many years to ensure that standards are maintained, and his efforts are certainly in evidence.

The Real Ale Regular rules state that all the clues must be available even when the pub is closed so that unfortunately puts the back, walled garden out of bounds. The following questions can be answered by standing in front of the pub or in the car park.
Answer these questions:
1. The number on the junction box opposite? ABCD0
2. How many chimney pots are on the pub (be careful... round the back?)? E
3. How many leaves are on one side of the pub sign? F
4 How many lanterns are on each old fashioned lamp post in the car park? G
5. The number of the telegraph pole “D???”? HIJ
.
The pub:
N52° 59.893 W001°28.616
The cache:
N52° CA.(E+1)(F-G)(HxI) W001° B(HxJ).C(C-F)B
