Welcome to the 6th annual Roseville Geocaching Event!
This event has been put together year after year by Bobbie Wilson
along with her Family WilsonExplorers3 and the City of Roseville
Parks and Recreation. The Geocaching program in Roseville started
with funding from Healthier Macomb Fitness Council, Macomb County,
by providing the funds for GPS units for the city. Each year of the
event consisted of, and starting with a Geocaching 101 course, on
to new cache placements in the area and finally a grand picnic,
this year will be on that same successful course.
With the economic crunch we all are feeling here in Michigan, the
city programs are also affected by this. This year, many of the
cachers that live here in Roseville are stepping up to assist the
city with their help to once again make this a successful event.
The Roseville cachers will not only be placing new caches for the
event but they will also be the ones doing setup, clean up, 101
class, raffle, and the head cooks for the day. So come out and have
some fun on our year 6 of a great day at the Roseville Parks!
The event start time will be 11 to noon Geocaching 101, Event 12
noon and run until 3:00 or later!
Registration will be at noon. At about 12:20 we will be handing out
cache sheets with the new caches. We are working on a game of sorts
to have fun with the finding of these new caches. There will also
be lists and downloads available on existing in the City of
Roseville. For those who download your query’s you may want
to do so before hand as there are over 391 caches within a 5 mile
radius (at the time of this publishing) of this event.
At 2pm we will all be meeting for a Pot Luck lunch, so be sure to
bring your favorite passing dish!
When you log the “will attend”, and please do so that
we know how many people to plan for, be sure to tell us what you
have plans on bringing.
We will be providing the Hot Dogs and Buns and Condiments.
This will help others to plan on what dishes they might like to
bring. Be sure to bring your own non alcoholic drinks with you, we
will provide Cool-Aid and water.
The event starts with the Geocaching 101 class at 11:00am.
The idea here will be to get new cachers started in the game and
also to have a question and answer time for those that maybe newer
to caching and need a little hand understanding finding and placing
geocaches. The class will also have some of the experienced cachers
on hand to take out any of the new cachers on their first hunts.
The city has GPS’s to loan out to the new cachers as
well.
When posting your "Will Attend", please include the number of
people in your group that will be attending, and the passing dish
you might bring. If you are an experienced cacher and would like to
give assistance to a "newbie" please note that in your "Will
Attend" log.
You will want to bring your folding chairs as the event is
generally well attended. We are also excepting prize donations for
our raffle table!
Be sure to bookmark this event as updates will be coming!
