WOW 2 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hobgoblinkiteflier: Since the hollow tree has fallen over, the caching experience is just not the same. It no longer justifies all the favourite points so I have decided to archive the cache. I retrieved the container and had a look for another devious hiding place nearby...

Geocache Description:

This cache is a small plastic container hidden a short way from the path, in amongst the trees of Almondell Country Park. Nearby is the feeder canal that carries water from the river Almond to the Union Canal at Lin’s Mill. Follow the flow of water along to find the aqueduct where you will see "water over water" - wow.

This is a replacement for the original "Wow" cache, which was lost inside a hollow tree until we rescued it using the barbeque tongs.  The hole inside the tree went down an inconveniently long way!

The 97acre park was originally the estate belonging to the Erskine family. The big house is no longer there, but the stables have been converted into the visitor centre. This is well worth the extra walk if approaching the cache from the West car park. They have an exhibition, aquarium, a wee tearoom and shop. There are also information leaflets and friendly staff to answer questions.

Please replace the cache as you found it!

Cache placed with the kind permission of the wardens of Almondell & Calderwood Country Park.
