Geocache Description:

The Old School Series is about hiding the type of caches that got this hobby started, which were larger (non-micro) containers hidden in the woods or other natural settings. It was about the location, in lue of the numbers. Lately it seems that the majority of hides around SW Michigan are micros hidden in any spot that could hold a cache. In this series we are trying to show cachers places outside of the concrete jungle, and get you to venture into the woods and parks that make this State great. These caches will be mostly regulars with some small ones hidden in certain areas. We've placed them in the woods, swamp, river gorges or other setting in nature. Most cachers find this type of hide to be most fulfilling because the cache itself is not a needle in a haystack and can hold swag, travel bugs and other items of interest. Kids love big cache containers. The location of this type of cache is also more enjoyable because it takes you to a place that can be enjoyable and educational. Nothing beats a hike into the woods to find an large size cache. Please feel free to add your own hide to this series. Just email me (or Lost Scouts) through our profile at GC.com and we will add your name to the bookmark list (posted below) showing all of the caches placed in this series.

There is a F.T.C.T.E.S. Prize.. (First To Complete The Entire Series).

This particular cache is hidden at the Niles Township Community Park.

. In addition to the pavillion, playground and baseball field there are trails that take you through the wooded area of the park. A highlight of the hike is the creek that meanders through the eastern and southern parts of the park. The cache is hidden in the typical manner for regular sized container and shouldn't be too hard to find..

There is also a gold dollar for the FTF prize or if you are willing to make an Old School type or hide there is a camo painted Lock & Lock with log book as an alternate FTF prize. Please take it ONLY if you will use it in the Old School manner.

While you are entering the park from the parking lot take a minute to read the plaque placed in memory of Troope Devries. He probably would have enjoyed goecaching if he had lived to participate in this hobby.

The park closes at dusk and reopens at dawn.

This cache was placed and maintained by a MiGO member.
