This cache is located on a nice public footpath running from Beeston and is situated between two other caches, Lily's Box GC20FNY & Castles and Sandstone GCKNFK, the cache site has a good view of both Beeston castle and Peckforton castle Hotel.
Beeston Castle is a former Royal castle, perched on a rocky sandstone crag 350 feet above the Cheshire Plain. It was built in the 1220s by Ranulf de Blondeville, 6th Earl of Chester, (1170–1232), on his return from the Crusades. In 1237, Henry III took over the ownership of Beeston, and it was kept in good repair until the 16th century, when it was considered to be of no further military use, although it was pressed into service again in 1643, during the English Civil War. The castle was slighted (partly demolished) in 1646, in accordance with Cromwell's destruction order, to prevent its further use as a stronghold. During the 18th century the site was used as a quarry. It is rumoured that treasure belonging to Richard II lies undiscovered in the castle grounds, but the many searches that have been carried out have failed to find any trace of it, and unfortunatly no GPX files, co-ords or hints I’m afraid. The castle, now in ruins, is a Grade I Listed Building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument owned by English Heritage.
The rules of the Curse of the FTF Cheshire are easy to follow.
1. Whoever is the FTF on this cache should place the next cache in the series (Curse of The FTF Cheshire #4) within one month or else a curse will prevent you from getting another FTF again.
2. Please try and be FTF in this series only once that will give the chance of others to be FTF.
3. The cache can be any type (Traditional, Puzzle, Multi etc)
Do not forget to include these rules when you place your Curse Cache.
Enjoy the series and remember don't let the curse fall on you.
By the way of clarification there is no requirement besides the standard signing of the cache log to prevent you from logging the cache when found. Everyone should log their find and hopefully the FTF person will play along and place another cache, but it is in no way a requirement for logging your find. But if you don't intend to carry on the series please leave it for someone else.
The cache is a regular size container contained plenty of swaps, a FTF car sticker and new BEE TB when placed, please swap fairly.
