Geocache Description:

Welcome to Greenwood Cemetery!

The grounds are open from 8am-6pm. This can be a quick cache and dash, but don't dash too fast. Take some time to look for old family and friends so you can remember how previous generations helped shape your life and community and to reflect on the legacy you will leave behind.

I enjoy checking out old cemeteries, and even though this is not a colonial era cemetery, it is still rather old. During the Revolutionary War General Washington marched through this land on the way to the battle of Trenton. The cemetery opened in 1874 and currently contains the remains of approximately 60,000 individuals.

I came to this particular location to document some family grave markers while doing some genealogy research. I noticed that there were no caches in the area and this seemed like a perfect place for a hide.

The hide is based on a cache (GC1DJJ3) we searched for within the first month of caching and we accidently muggled the cache, but didn’t realize it until several weeks later. We were new to geocaching, but I contacted the owner and agreed to re-hide the container in a new location to make amends.

BYOP & I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
