One of a series of urban caches to recognise our historical ‘town markets’. We intend to cover Preston, Leyland, Chorley, Ormskirk, and Southport for now, and hope the ‘Mark It’ series might extend further… If you feel your town needs a ‘Mark It’ cache, then feel free to create your own… with all these caches STEALTH and PATIENCE will be needed.
Big thanks to The Waltons A Team for the original placement of this cache.
The container is a small magnetic urban nano, containing a tiny logbook but NO PENCIL, so you will need to TYOP, and located outside Leyland’s indoor market hall. Tweezers may be required to remove the log.
This is not the site of the original open market square which was close to St Andrew’s church, but this closed in November 2000 when it moved into the present building, that original site is now occupied by Tesco. The building itself is of great historical interest as it was a former Leyland Motors factory building, and as well as the classic ‘Leyland’ logo above the entrance, there are photographs of it’s earlier days to be seen inside. Following recent re-generation there is now even more to see at GZ. Also you will need to TYOP.
FIRST TO FIND: Congratulations to 'simonkirkman' "Very fast off the 'mark' "
