Geocache Description:

Located near Jone's Lake. Despite cache name, don't worry, you don't actually have to go for a swim!

Quick hide, but a good one, GPS was accurate to within 15 feet, bit of tree cover messing with my reception.

In 1927, Moncton city limits ended at Jonathan Creek, where there was a tourist campground on the western bank off Milner Road. When a torrential downpour caused Jonathan Creek to overflow its banks and block the road into the city, Frederick Canon Jones, a descendant of one of the seven colonists who landed at Halls Creek, tried to convince the city to dam the creek to form an artificial lake.

The idea wasn’t carried out until two years after his death. In 1964, the city acquired the title for all the land needed for the lake, and named it after Jones. Today, it is a pleasant urban stroll where you can find aquatic plants.

Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival is held here every year in Early June. My wife and I lived in the Big Apartment to the east, it has a great view of the lake, and the most awesome landlord I ever had.
