Geocache Description:

The American Bridge Company of New York erected this bridge in 1908 to cross Kennedy Meadows to the east, where some of the earliest cattle ranching occurred in the region. The Lucas Rock Corral and the Iron Rail Corrals (both on the National Historical Register) are nearby and can be seen with binoculars (to the South/East).

You must start the journey to the cache at Benge WA using the parking coordinates listed. This was the site of the Benge Depot, there are concrete slabs that mark its place. It is a 5 mile walk, be certain to bring plenty of water. You can bike it, however the rocks are pretty rough, so you might spend a lot of time skirting the edges of the rocks. There is an active rail line below. Do not leave the trail as both sides are private property and owners have been notified of the cache, they even helped me place it! This is part of the Columbia Plateau Trail System that runs from Spokane to Pasco.

DO NOT ENTER THE TRESTLE FOR ANY REASON. There is a reason there is barbed wire and a locked gate. There can be strong side winds suddenly and as there are no railings, you can be blown over the side. Do not circumvent these safety features. Also, do not enter the valley below. Find the plaque on the bridge, and you have found the cache. There is a 20.00 Andrew Jackson for the First to Find.
