Geocache Description:

Oregon Trail Series:
Blacks Creek

Thousands of emigrants
crossed southwestern Idaho between
1843 and 1870 on their way
to the Willamette River valley in Oregon.

Blacks Creek was the last drainage the Oregon Trail crossed before reaching the Boise River in seven miles. Most emigrants found limited water here, often stopping for a noon rest before continuing on toward the river. A stage station was built in later year at Blacks Creek. The trail crossed a mile to the west. This is where the road to Prairie joins.
