Planícia, un nuevo espacio público en la sierra de Tramuntana
Planícia es una finca rústica en un entorno paisajístico y natural de gran valor. Desde el 17 de febrero de 2009 Planícia forma parte de los espacios de titularidad pública de Illes Balears.
Se encuentra situada al suroeste de la isla de Mallorca, y por sus dimensiones, 445 hectáreas, constituye el 25 por ciento de la extensión total del municipio de Banyalbufar.
Sus terrenos van desde la escarpada costa hasta la cima de la montaña de sa Mola de Planícia (934 m.). Entre sus valores naturales destacan los encinares, pinares y la fauna asociada. La producción agrícola de esta possessió (nombre que reciben en la isla las grandes propiedades rurales) mallorquina se centraba en el aceite, por lo que destaca también el cultivo del olivo y la almazara de grandes dimensiones. Otros elementos abundantes son los hornos de cal y los rotlles de sitges, estos últimos utilizados en el pasado para la producción de carbón de encina.
Los caminos que la atraviesan son ideales para el senderismo ya que discurren por tranquilos paisajes de gran belleza. Planícia se encuentra en la ruta GR-221, denominada Ruta de la Pedra en Sec, que atraviesa de norte a sur la Serra de Tramuntana.
El Govern de les Illes Balears, a través de la Conselleria de Medi Ambient, y el Gobierno de España han sumado esfuerzos para poner al servicio de los ciudadanos este espacio natural.
Planícia, a new public space in the Tramuntana Mountains
The farmstead of Planícia nestles in a priceless natural, scenic setting. The farmstead has been owned by the Balearic Government since February 17, 2009.
Planícia is located in southwest Mallorca and its 445 hectares make up 25 percent of all the land in the municipality of Banyalbufar.
Its terrain ranges from rugged coastlines to the peak of Sa Mola de Planícia Mountain (934 m) and its natural treasures include groves of Holm oak and pine trees and associated fauna. Farming at the possessió (the local name for the island’s great rural farmsteads) revolves around olive oil, which is why olive crops and large olive presses are other points of interest. Also abundant are lime kilns and rotlles de sitges, which were used to make coal from Holm oak in the olden days.
The paths crisscrossing the farm are ideal for hiking, since they run through beautiful, peaceful landscapes. Planícia is located on the GR-221 route, known as the Drystone Route, which cuts across the Tramuntana Mountains from north to south.
The Balearic Government, through the Ministry of the Environment, and the Spanish Government have joined forces to place this natural space at the islanders’ service.

Planicia ist eine ländliche Finca von hohem ökologischem Wert. Seit dem 17. Februar 2009 gehört Planícia zu den Gebieten öffentlichen Eigentums unter der Verwaltung der Illes Balears.
Die Finca liegt im Südwesten der Insel Mallorca und mit ihren 445 Hektar Fläche erstreckt sie sich über 25 Prozent des Gemeindegebiets Banyalbufars.
Das Gebiet erstreckt sich von der zerklüfteten Küste bis hinauf zum Gipfel des Mola de Planícia (934 m). Besonders wertvoll sind die Steineichen- und Pinienwälder mit ihrer reichhaltigen Fauna. In landwirtschaftlicher Hinsicht widmete man sich auf dieser mallorquinischen Possessió (so nennt man auf der Insel die großen Landgüter) vor allem der Olivenölerzeugung. Daher die weitläufigen Anbauterrassen mit Ölbäumen und die große Ölmühle. Zahlreich sind in den Steineichenwäldern auch längst erloschene Kalköfen und die Rotlles de Sitges, in denen früher Holzkohle erzeugt wurde.
Dem Wanderer bietet Planícia wunderschöne Landschaften fern der Zivilisation. Die Wege der Finca sind zudem Teil der Wanderroute GR-221, auch “Trockensteinroute” (Ruta de la Pedra en Sec) genannt, die von Norden nach Süden die gesamte Serra de Tramuntana durchzieht.
Der Govern de les Illes Balears – vertreten durch das regionale Umweltministerium – und die spanische Regierung haben keinerlei Mühe und Aufwand gescheut, um dieses landschaftlich so wertvolle Gebiet für die Öffentlichkeit zu erhalten.
