Discover the beautiful countyside
between Luther, Choctaw and Jones, Oklahoma. Exploring rural farms,
ranches and small charming towns. Finding open prairies with many
types of animals, even long horn
steers!
This is a
series of caches circling the far northeat corner of the Oklahoma
County. Starting at the city park in Luther, Oklahoma off Route 66,
you travel south along luther road to 50th street, heading east to
triple X road. Turning south to 36th street looping back north on
choctaw road, following north into the hogback road, exploring your
way back to Luther.
The town of
Luther was established 9 years after the run of 1889. C.G. Jones
became interested in the new territory and made land purchases to
build towns along the railroad in Oklahoma Territory. The town was
then named after Luther Jones, son of C.G. Jones. Luther was
platted in 1898 nestled in the hills of blackjack trees in the far
northest corner of Oklahoma County. The town slowly grew through
the years becoming as you see it today.

The caches
were placed near or by either a driveway, a road shoulder or a
turn-off intersection. I wanted the run to be as safe and less
muddy as possible. So please look for these as your hunting the
caches to pull your geocar off the roads. Please do not cross any
fences while geocaching, there will be some no trespassing signs
posted, but all caches are not placed on other side
fences.
Please bring
your own writing stick to sign logs. When signing logs, please sign
only the date and your geoname to leave room for future geocashers.
Abusing logs will get your log deleted. Please post any fun
stories, or how long it took you to go cache to cache to completing
the run. There are two types of containers, either a pill bottle or
a small lock-n-lock. Please use the lock-n-lock for trading travel
bugs or coins. Trading swag is also always fun
too!
Since they are
placed in rural Oklahoma, you will find barbwire by many of the
locations, so please watch your children during the fun. To keep
the run going, please place caches back in same place as you found.
With so many caches on this route, will be hard to maintain, any
help will caches will be much appreciated. There are wild animals
in the area so use Caution!
