Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches dedicated to geocachers that I have either cached with, met on the trail, or met at geocaching events. The cache size, difficulty rating, terrain rating, and type of hide is modeled after the type of caches that these cachers either like to find or hide.

Doug Shep @ S.W.A.G. 1st Anniversary Event
Geobuddy #003 is dedicated to Doug Shep. Doug is one of the many smiling and welcoming faces of the South West Arlington Geocachers (S.W.A.G.). If you ever get a chance to attend one of these events then you can be sure Doug Shep will be there. I first heard of DougShep when I found his cache, "Doug's Trading Post" (GC19D93), which was not far from my house. This was the 6th cache I had found, and up to this point, I had only found micros, small, and virtual caches. When I found "Doug's Trading Post" , I thought I hit the mother load. It is a large ammo can with tons of swag. This is the cache that hooked me into geocaching. I got a chance to meet Doug several months later at a S.W.A.G. No Frills Event, and he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Doug has several hobbie besides geocaching such as fossil hunting and SCUBA diving, but he has found a way to combine them all into one extreme hobbie. I hope you all enjoy looking for this cache that honors a wonderful friend and GeoBuddy!.

This cache is located about 528 ft from the posted parking in a wooded area near a small creek. Depending on which direction you approach the cache, you could have a creek crossing. You are looking for a camo waterbottle. I won this water bottle as a door prize at The Great Chaparral Trail Event 2010, which Doug Shep hosted. On the way to ground zero, watch for snakes and poison ivy. Neither are any fun.

These coordinates were average over 20 minutes with +/- 13 ft accuracy.
