Geocache Description:

A very large egret and waterbird breeding colony.

Between Lawrence and the Bluff Point Ferry is a very large swamp that is home and breeding ground to a large number of waterbirds. At the swamp I have seen 4 different egret species, 2 ibis, waterhens, coots, 2 grebes, masked lapwing, black swans, 4 cormorants, darter and pelicans. Over the last 5 years I have seen most of them with young. I have also seen visitors such as jabiru and brolga and some eagles, harriers and osprey. While the hunting birds don't breed here they do have nests all along the lower Clarence Valley. As this is one of my favourite spots I have been looking for a place to hide a cache for while. I finally found it and have placed a cache so others can enjoy this wonderful spot. I have place a small geocoin as a reward for the FTF. From here you can travel on to Maclean passing passing anothe cache on Woodford Island and finding more caches in Maclean and nearby islands.
