This cache is another in historical sites located around my home town. It is small clip box with unusual swops and contents !
This cache was inspired by a visit to the Halstead Museum (located within the Mill Complex in the centre of town). It is has collection of Roman finds from villa site and speaking to the person at the museum located the field (I am a fan of Time Team !!).
The Colchester archeological trust carried out Geophysical survey and found evidence of buildings and kilns. The field, which is south of the cache site, is now set to grass – but when it was ploughed I collected a selection of broken Roman villa roof tiles and included in the cache container itself for interest (please do not remove these from the cache please).
I also have included in the cache – as a bit of incentive – a selection of 'reproduction' Roman coins which are available for swopping ( First to find can take the gold 'aureus'). Once all the reproduction coins have been swopped I won't replace them – the first four 'to find 'will be rewarded !!
Please make sure that you do not reveal the cache to muggles as it contains items of higher value than normal cache's. There is also dog walkers about at weekends.
You can walk from 'Monty's Field' cache along Raven's avenue until it stops which is at these co-ordinates N 51° 56.295' E 000° 38.700'
