Let’s
walk the wetlands
A McKee Clan
cache
Great spot to walk and
enjoy the urban wetlands
Multi with three waypoints to a final. The walk will be approx. 1km
round trip. The main part of the walk is on a well defined path,
you only leave the path to retrieve the final. The additional
waypoint is the carpark for the wetlands. On the way to the final
you will see the inspiration for the kid’s story to the left
before the pond and flow control dams (if it is still standing and
has not been vandalised).

The cache contains a certificate and a
unique FTF path tag for the first to find. They are not swapped or
given out so the first to find pathtag is a unique item that no one
else will have. We have also put in some of our Gecko key rings.
Good luck Happy Geocaching.

Blake where are you?
Once
apon a time when there was no humans, there were 4 friends. There
was a wombat named Blake, an emu named Bailey, a kangaroo named
Jordan and also a brolga named Makayla. They decided to go to
Karana park that Evening. They told each other to meet up at
the Lookout.
They all meet up the lookout but of Course the wombat was late.
They looked over the wetlands to see if they could see Blake. While
they were waiting for Blake on the lookout the brolga found a clue,
the kangaroo and emu were too tall to see it. It said:
You might
find me at . . . . S34 ?? ??? E138 ?? ???
On the way they meet Jules the possum, she warned them not to go
off the trails and to stay together because if they do they will
end up lost.Makayla said “thank you for telling us that and
would you like to help us find Blake?.“Sure” Jules
replied happily. When they got to the bridge they didn't Find Blake
but the possum found a second Clue as she was the only one small
enough to see it. It Said:
You might
find me at . . . . S34 ?? ??? E138 ?? ???
On the way to the next point they meet Marty the sleepy lizard. He
asked them “what are you doing” Bailey said “we
are trying to find our friend Blake the wombat” Marty said
“can I help too”, “Sure” said Bailey.
When they got to the next bridge they didn't Find Blake but
the sleepy lizard found a third clue as he was also small enough to
see it. It Said
You might
find me at . . . . S34 ?? ??? E138 ?? ???
Off they all went to see if they can find Blake, following the
track all the way round until they seen something down the hill
just off the track a little. “It’s Blake” said
Jordan. The kangaroo was tall enough to see him and saw that Blake
was stuck, so the emu reached in and helped Blake out.
Now that they were all
together they went for a lovely walk around the wetlands.
Story by: Makayla age 11 and Jordan age
8.
They got the
inspiration for the story from the metal sculpture that is seen
along the way. Can you find the sculpture?
In your log write what animal you
think is missing.
The kids think it was a
wombat?
Kaurna
Park

Overview
Formerly the
site of degraded farming land, the Kaurna Park Wetlands at Burton
provide a mixture of recycling innovation with some of the
State’s richest spiritual history.
One of the key
features of Kaurna Park is the Wodliparri Trail, a winding path
with a series of boardwalks leading visitors across a number of
channels and through a growing array of native flora. Wodliparri is
the Kaurna name for the Milky Way, and the extensive Adelaide Plain
wetlands were a tremendous source of economic and spiritual wealth
for the Kaurna people.
The wetland is
both a home and a stopping point for a number of species of birds,
animals and other fauna. Recycled wastewater from Kaurna Park is
re-purposed for use in irrigating ovals, parks and the City’s
trees. Car parking is available.
