As the pieces of this cache have been repeatedly muggled, I've
chosen to redo the stages where no physical hides are involved,
except of course for the final. This multi-stage cache involves a
walk around the mall. There are only 3 stages and a final. I had
GPS reception at each stage, but getting in the general area should
be good enough. The Cape Union Mart Adventure Centre very kindly
donated the final cache container. (as we are the kind of people
who buy their stuff)
Each stage's coordinates are encoded below.
Using the following decoder (see attached image) you will be
able to decode where you need to go. To decode the coordinates for
each stage, you will need a key code. All key codes are a letter
and number combination. You will need to match the letter to the
number on the decoder and the offset code will allow you to get the
coordinates for the next stage. Each stage contains a way to
determine what the key code will be for the next stage's
coordinates.
The entire cache can be done on foot at the mall. However, the
final stage does require mobility, agility, and bravery. It could
even be called a scramble. As a result, the terrain difficulty is
set to three.
This cache can only be done during opening hours of the mall
(9am-9pm daily), but does not require you to pay for anything
(except parking).
The listed coordinates are of the mall and do not need to be
visited.
Clue #1: The key code will be the initials of this mall. Convert
the second initial to its numerical value (A=1, Z=26), and then add
the two digits together. Line up the letter and number to decipher
the location of Stage #1: S 33 53.CRS, E 018° 30.RSL
Clue #2: At Stage #1, What giagantic letter is here? How many
rubbish bin (trash can) doors are at the central base of this
letter? This makes up your next key code for Stage #2: S 33°
53.UAN, E 018° 30.ELS
Clue #3: At Stage #2 you will find a quiet room. You do not need
to go into the room! You only need to know what it is. How many
times a day does such a room need to be used? In what cardinal
direction? This is the key code for Stage #3: S 33° 53.NRB, E 018°
30.SUU
Clue #4 What large letter can you see floating in the air? (use
its numeric value) How many lifts (elevators) are here? What letter
does this number refer to? This will lead you to your final
destination: S 33° 53.RCN, E 018° 30.AMR
