This is a beautiful little trail along the ridge above Veitch Main. A nice loop can be made by hiking this ridge from either end of the Sugarloaf trails.
Cache does not have too much room for trade items except small things. It includes a geo-coin and a small handy dandy Laminated Map of local trails for the first to find. Please carefully rehide the cache as found. We started this hike by crossing Veitch Creek and turning left on Veitch main. The well traveled trail will take you right to Sugarloaf but just before the first steep climb there is a well flagged trail to the right over a small blowdown. We hiked up and loved the views of Humpback Valley perfectly framed by Mt. Wells and Mt. MacDonald. Far below cars beetled along the Sookahella on their way to Victoria in the distance. Mt. Helmcken with its imposing rock face looked back at us and we could see where the paint-ballers go to play. We hiked along the ridge and came out on Sue's Trail which also goes to Sugarloaf and carried on down Veitch Main.
