seldon: I have considered this to be my best cache, but it is time to end it, and open this lovely area for others to place caches. Rest in peace.

Geocache Description:

5/26/12 edit - The rope that held stage one (smell) to a brick was cut and stage one was stolen. A pity, as I really liked it. 6/1/12 - replaced first stage, good to go.

Are you up to the challenge? A six-stage multi-cache, an overall round-trip hike of maybe around 2 1/2 miles from the parking lot.

Few will make the effort, how many will finish the journey? Park once, then hike in Rice County Wilderness Park. Some really good paths, some not so much, but a really great area to explore.

Each stage will provide you with the coords for the next stage. Use your senses of smell, touch, sight, taste, hearing, and maybe even a little common sense. Every effort was made to obtain accurate coords for each stage, but you may get some jumpy readings due to terrain and canopy. Bug spray recommended as the season progresses.

Please be VERY GENTLE with each stage, and then re-hide well. I probably won't replace any stage if it gets compromised, so take please take care. Each stage is regular sized and is meant to be found, no need to tear up the area. A couple of stages have lids held on by a piece of wire - just untwist to open, wire shut when done. Please don't put any spoilers in your logs.

Many cachers say are not in it for the numbers. Here's a chance to prove it. One smiley, a lot of effort; you will remember this one. The original - Gauntlet: Seldon's Century Hide (GC1EJ4X) has been archived. I had not thought of putting out another one until one cacher in his log asked about the next one. And so thoughts began to flow...

So, what say you - local cachers, those from outlying areas, Twin Cities, wherever - it's out there, waiting....
