Geocache Description:

The legend has it that a gypsy boy, camping nearby, went to the spring to drink and fell on his his knife, killing himself. He is said to be buried by an old oak that has long since disappeared. The oak may have marked the boundary of one of the areas, once called bailiwicks, of the Forest.

A more likely explanation of the name is that it comes from the Norman French 'Bois Greve' meaning a sloping wood.

There are many more stories of how the name came to be if anyone can enlighten please let me know.

I decided to place a cache here and my other H M S Victory because when finding Fancy geomapping cache I parked at Boys Grave and had a very pleasant walk trough the woods to find it. So I thought perhaps other cachers might enjoy the walk and find some caches as well. One of the best times to go is in May when you will possibly see one of the best displays of Bluebells in the world and also in the autumn for the spectacular changing colours of the tree canopy.
Cache placed with kind permission of Forestry Commission
