BYOP
In surveying terms, each township is divided into 36 sections. Each section is one-mile square or 640 acres. You are standing in Section 30 of Fall Lake Township EAST of the Kawishiwi Trail.
The area at the bend of the road north of here is known as Section 30, which in 1910 was home to 65 families, and included a general store, post office, and school, as well as boarding houses for single men. The men worked in the Section 30 mine. They were paid for $4.95 for an 8-hour shift. The mine closed in 1923 due to economic reasons. Only a few people are living here today, and most of them are descendents of those first families, living on the original homesteads.
The cache is located on a ski trail adjacent to the Tomahawk Snowmobile Trail. The terrain is somewhat irregular and the ground may be wet. Wear sturdy ankle supporting footwear. THIS IS A GROOMED SKI TRAIL IN THE WINTER - ONLY ACCESSIBLE WITH SKIS -
