Geocache Description:


Having lived in Munhall all my life we decided the Munhall area really lacked geocaches, so we've added another. The cache name "On the way to the "A" refers to William V. Campbell Field of the Steel Valley School Valley School District. For generations it was the Homestead Athletic Field, commonly known a the "A Field". The name was changed to reflect the generosity of Mr. Campbell who provided countless dollars in improving the field for the students of SVHS. Lights, artificial turf and running track along with remodeling the announcer’s booth etc. were just a few of his contributions to the school district. As a kid in the 60's, his father was superintendent of the Homestead School District, which merged with Munhall and Weat Homestead to form the Steel Valley School District. He is an example of a local boy who has done well. (visit link)

You can park near the cache. We enjoy the spring and fall season for we can view this cache from our rear deck without the foliage obstructing our view. Many root around for some time and just leave, never leaving a DNF. Maybe its more difficult than we thought? If you see us on the deck, give us a wave!!! Enjoy!!!
