Bruce Park is an easy walk through a podocarp and broadleaf forest remnant with impressive specimens of rimu, totara, matai, miro and kahikatea. The walk follows a figure-eight formation ending where you start. It is suitable for a baby buggy if you are prepared to lift the buggy over the stiles and the dozen or so steps at the beginning of the track. From here on the walk is flat to undulating.
In the heart of the park you will find the memorial to Robert Cunningham Bruce, a conservationist who gifted the district several forest patches. A short side track here leads you to the old concrete gates that were once the original entrance to Bruce Park before the highway was realigned.
The cache is a 800ml sistema, please bring your own pen. Please rehide in the same place you found it.
You may wish to continue on a further 400 metres and complete the other cache we have placed in the park. (Brr.. Brr.. Brucie).
