The Western Juniper grows slowly and trees can live over 1500 years. It’s mostly at home in areas of scant rainfall and in shallow, volcanic soils that would drive a normal tree to higher ground. Nowhere is it more abundant than in Central Oregon, where it grows on about 3 million acres, in varying densities.
The female cones, often called "berries," are an important food source for birds and small mammals, especially during the winter.
The first stage of this 2 part cache will be the most difficult. You will need to have your thinking cap on and notice that which is not natural. On part 1 are the coordinates for part 2 - the final cache. This camo container will hold small trade items or travel bugs.
There is a film canister full of beads in the final cache for FTF.
You can access both stage one and stage two by roads - no major bushwacking needed.
Congratulations to Brownsbend and Hikecraterlake for FTF! Brownsbend really had to work for that one!
