Geocache Description:

You are on a mission to find the mysterious "Book of Signatures", belonging to the Secret Society of Geocachers.

This book is locked up in an old metal chest, secured with chain and combination lock, hidden on the western slopes of Castle Hill.

Before you can retrieve the mysterious book, you need to find the three numbers needed to open the lock. To keep the book safe from muggles each number is hidden in a separate cache and the caches are said to be hidden in an old quarry.

Members of this secret society have been seen heading up the Dianella Track, which starts at the cemetary in West End. Somewhere along the track a secret path veers off to the left, it is marked in such a way that you can only see it at night. They say it looks like little glowing lights in the dark. Be brave and follow those lights. Whenever you encounter a pair of star-shaped lights you need to shine your torch around and search the area for an orange light. You will find a cache near that spot. There should be four along the way, before you reach the quarry. The first three each contain coordinates for one of the "number-caches". In the fourth one you will find information that makes it easier to find your way around the quarry.
The trail of glowing lights will end when you come to the quarry, this is neccessary to protect the hidden caches from discovery by teenage muggles, who sometimes come to this place to light a bonfire and celebrate with amber nectar.
But fearless as you are, prepared with torch, gps and the information you collected along the way, I trust you will find the caches. It's not easy though - and remember, the direct way might not always be the best one.

After you found all three numbers it is time to head back into the direction you were coming from. You will come to a fork in the path that you might not have noticed earlier, keep following the lights, they will lead you down the right hand path. Soon you will come to a cluster (3) of star-shaped lights, from here shine your torch uphill. You will see one orange light, from there you will then see a pair of orange lights, they will guide you to the old metal chest you are seeking.

Only the Keeper of the Book knows the right order of the numbers for the lock, so you will have to try your way through the combinations.
After you have managed to undo the lock there is still one last task to be solved. No one knows what it is, so be prepared for anything.

Once you hold the "Book of Signatures" in your hands, you may leave your signature and tell of the adventures you experienced.
If you wish to trade some trinkets, feel free to do so.
Be sure to secure and leave everything as you found it.

Make your way back to the path and let the lights guide you back to the main track, which you then follow downhill to your car.

The walking paths around Castle Hill are not extremly demanding or difficult, but at night you need to take extra care.
I recommend you wear long pants and sturdy walking shoes. Don't forget a good/strong torch, a notebook and pen are also very useful.
Allow 2 to 3 hours to complete the cache.

At time of placement the cache contained the mysterious book, an assortment of pens (choose your colour), stashnote and swap items, mostly glowing.
The first fearless finder of the chest will be rewarded with a Geocoin/Travelbug.

Tips for doing a nightcache:

> do never attempt a nightcache alone
> bring a good/strong torch and spare batteries
> hold the torch at eye hight, it works best that way (fire tacks are retro-reflective, that means they reflect the light back into the source)
> wear long pants and closed in shoes
> take care and watch your footing
> take some drinking water
> HAVE FUN!!!
