Geocache Description:

A Great walk and and extension of Pucks Glen Walks takes you to this interesting View Point over Lock Eck and Benmore

Pucks Glen Walk If you have never been up Pucks Glen then you don’t know what you are missing, an amazing place , which will remind you of Lord of the Rings and Middle Earth. An underworld where you might expect to meet a few Hobbits. The Cache is further up and is not in the main Glen, but is a welcome view after the interesting route up. To find this cache you can walk up several of the routes around Pucks Glen our personal favorite is to walk all the way up ie keep going up when you get to the Forrest road. By going this way you get a fine walk which passes the Cache on the return route. Alternatively if you have had enough …just head for the Cache. This walk can be done with slightly older children, please be careful near the cache as its over the edge from the summit, and the Tree! About Pucks Glen Walk Puck’s Glen is one of the most famous walks on the Cowal Peninsula. It begins from the Forestry Commission car park at Puck’s Glen. The area is reminiscent of an enchanted kingdom, and leaves walkers with the impression that they may just come across a wood-sprite or other magical creature from the ancient world of Faery. A waymarked path, originally constructed by the Younger family to lead to a folly on the hill, (now constructed in the Benmore Botanic Gardens), continues uphill, through a mixed woodland planted by the Estate in 1870. The steep, narrow gorge is interwoven with waterfalls and shallow rock pools spanned by arched wooden bridges. How to get there: Pucks Glen Walk can be started from Puck's Glen car park in Benmore which is part of Argyll Forest Park. Dunoon is the nearest town or village. There are two equally appealing approaches to the Argyll Forest Park from Glasgow. Take the car ferry from Gourock to Dunoon entering the southern end of the Park near Pucks Glen, or take the A82 along the western shore of Loch Lomond through Tarbet, entering the northern end at Arrochar. Follow the A82/A83/A815 to Dunoon. You can also access this trail through Inverchapel Carpark. Further details can be found here http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/argyll/pucks-glen.shtml
