Along a multi purpose path off County Rd 524/Atlantic Ave can be found the Pine Tunnel cache. I believe this path was once a train track running from Manasquan to the Freehold area. Be very careful crossing the road from Allaire Park. Safest crossing at N 40 09.707 W 074 07.773
Within the grounds of Allaire State Park and across County Rd 524 or locally called Atlantic Ave you will find a multi purpose trail often used by horse back riders and hikers. Part of this trail is what I refer to as a Pine tunnel, the branches of pine trees growing along both sides of the path reach across and form a piney tunnel blocking out the sun. Great place to take a cool shaded break in the heat of the summer. Nearby can be found the cache, happy hunting and enjoy the tunnel. Container is camo’d and contains only log and pencil. You can park at either the main parking lot of Allaire Park [shortest walk to cache] or use parking near golf course and walk back along bike path to suggested safe road crossing.
