Located in the very family friendly plantation of Michael's Wood in Aith. The area contains picnic benches, a teddy bears' picnic area, several seating areas, solar powered fountains, a bird hide, fish pond, a road play area and a play ship. The path is clearly defined grass and winds through many varieties of trees with a Philosophers' Trail of signposts containing thoughtful and humourous quotes and jokes for younger ones.
Michael's Wood is a memorial to Michael Ferrie who died in 1996 aged 21. It is located on the croft where he played as a young boy. A talented musician and composer, Michael was a founder member of the successful group Fiddlers Bid.
The wood area is a fantastic place which is well maintained and is still expanding. It has thoughtful touches - eg toy cars to play with on the road play area and play food and plates in the teddy bears picnic area. It is worth visiting at any time of the year - don't forget to sign the visitor's book in the bird hide.
The cache is a lock and lock container with child friendly swaps and a log book.
