In a city park. Safe and plenty of parking on Monument St. which is approx 400 ft from GZ. Coords may be off a bit due to tree cover and hilly area. Use your geosense.
Herman the German is a 102 ft tall monument towering over the city of New Ulm. He is the ancient hero who's army liberated Germany in 9 A.D. Herman is the legend of German independence and a symbol of honor and pride to the city. The monument was commissioned in 1887 and took close to 10 years to complete. It is more than 4000 lbs. Visitors may climb (in summer months) a staircase up to the base for a panoramic and scenic view of the city. It is well worth the small fee to do so. Be aware that on weekends and special events there may be lots of muggles around. If too many people around - may be better to come back when its quieter. Be discreet and stealthy and replace as found. Update on 7/30/19: moved to a new nearby location. Hope this one works better. Coords/GPS may have challenges due to trees and hilly area.
